The city offers comprehensive medical and hospitalization insurance as an added benefit. Such coverage is currently offered through Blue Cross / Blue Shield of Texas. The city pays 100% of the individual employee’s premium.
An eligible employee may elect coverage for his/her spouse and dependents, at the employee’s cost. Premiums are paid through payroll deduction. An employee becomes covered under the group health plan after an initial 60-day eligibility period.
