The City of Plainview Landfill disposes of 30,000 tons per year of household and commercial waste. The landfill gives away mulch and firewood free of charge, and also recycles all oil, filters, and metal brought to the landfill.
City of Plainview residences who pay a City of Plainview water bill are exempt for items such as: furniture, appliances, brush, and yard waste. For tires and remodeling materials (i.e., sheet rock, boards, roofing, carpet, etc.), the individual resident and/or business must pay the disposal fees.
Items not accepted if they are corrosive, explosive, pesticides, liquids, hazardous waste, or medical waste.
The landfill accepts cash, check, and charge accounts.
