Teen Court

Alternative Justice System

Teen Court is an alternative justice system that offers youth an opportunity to have a ticket dismissed. All youth ages 18 and younger (or enrolled full-time in an accredited secondary school and working toward a high school diploma) may request deferral to complete Teen Court. You must appear in open court with a parent or guardian and enter a plea of guilty or no contest.

At Teen Court you will appear before a jury of your peers who will sentence you to requirements of community and jury service. Each defendant is assessed a non-refundable $20 administrative Teen Court fee. Your citation will be dismissed upon successful completion of all requirements within the 90-day time period. Teen Court can only be taken once every two years after the date of completion.
