Contractors for the Mesa Drive Extension Project have recently completed the Mesa Drive extension including the intersection at 16th Street (behind Wal Mart).
Beginning Monday, May 13th, contractors will close 24th Street from Mesa Drive to Kermit Drive to pave the road and add sidewalks. The closure will have minimal impact to the Westgate neighborhood; the road is scheduled to be re-opened in by early June.
The final phase of the project will include paving 24th Street and adding sidewalks from Kermit Drive to Andy Taylor Road. The project is scheduled to be completed by August.
The project is a comprehensive plan priority focused on improving safety, connectivity and access as well as encouraging growth and development in this area. Funding for the project is provided through the American Rescue Plan Act. This project is being completed in partnership with Hale County.
