National Influenza (Flu) Vaccination Week is December 2nd - 6th, and the Plainview – Hale County Health Department would like to remind the community that it is not too late to get the influenza vaccine.
The Health Department will administer vaccines Monday through Thursday from 8:00a.m. to 4:30p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. No appointment is needed. They are available for adults and children over six months of age, the vaccines are $20.00.
While it’s best to be vaccinated before flu season begins, normally in September and October, vaccination is still recommended because the flu most commonly peaks in February and significant activity can continue into May.
Getting vaccinated is crucial, especially for individuals at an elevated risk of severe flu complications, such as pregnant individuals and young children. The flu vaccine significantly lowers the chances of illness and related hospitalizations, making it a pivotal step in preventing flu and potential complications.
