Event Organizer:
Thank you for considering Plainview for your event. Special events play a significant role in the livelihood of the community, creating great experiences for residents and tourists through recreation, cultural and educational opportunities. A completed Special Events Permit Application will assist event organizers and the City of Plainview in planning a safe and successful event.
What is a Special Event?
A special event is a temporary event or gathering that may use either public or private property and include:
- Circuses, carnivals, fairs or other events
- Parades, Fun Runs, Walks, Bike Races, Marathons/Half Marathons
- Music Performances (Concert, Festival)
- Car Show
- Arts & Crafts, Vendor or Trade Show
Who Needs a Special Event Permit Application?
- Any Event Open or Advertised to the Public
- Closing / Partial Closure of a Public Street
- Sale of Merchandise / Food / Beverages
- Blocking City-owned Property, Streets
- Erecting a tent larger than 200 square feet
- Placement of stage, trailer or other portable structure
What does the Event Organizer Need to do?
- Complete the Special Event Permit Application
- Submit Appropriate Documents (if required)
- Pay Event Permit Fee, Applicable Other Fees
City Staff will then review the application, request further information, if necessary, collect other event fees where applicable and issue a Temporary “Temporary Use” Certificate of Occupancy.
